Volkswagen New Sharan

Volkswagen’s latest seven seater is the New Sharan, which they claim has “room for 7 adults in luxurious comfort.”

We’re going to dig into that claim and take a look at the following details:

  • General details
  • Size and space
  • Performance
  • Efficiency

New Sharan General Details

With a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of £25.500 it is a highly affordable vehicle.

You shouldn’t have a problem finding a model that suits your needs, as it is available in the following 4 models:

Sharan S. Starter model, including all the baseline features.

Sharan SE. Contains a few extra features, such as 16” alloy wheels, front comfort seats, and leather three spoke multifunction steering.

Sharan SEL. The SEL adds a few sporty features, such as 17” alloy wheels, front sport seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

Sharan Executive. The Executive only contains 6 seats, as opposed to the standard 7, but each maintains its own armrest and leather upholstery.

Size and Space

The Sharan is packed full of space with 7 seats (except for the Executive) and 5 doors, creating easy access for just about anyone.

The interior has a bit of customizability by utilizing flexible folding seats. The standard model has 2 front seats, 3 middle seats, and 2 back seats. The middle and back can be folded down if you need some extra room for carrying sports gear, or a home improvement project.

Vokswagen has equipped the Sharan with a range of 5 different frugal EU6 engines. The 2.0 TSI 200PS engine has the highest performance with a blazing 8.3 second 0-60 mph acceleration. Who said mini-vans can’t be fast and furious?

Manual an automatic transmissions are available for each engine type, except the 2.0 TDI 115PS is only available in manual.

Green energy and efficiency are a couple of the hot button items for a lot of car buyers these days. Volkswagen has you covered with the Sharan S which uses BlueMotion Technology and a 2.0 TDI SCR 115PS 6spd engine that will give you just over 50 mpg.

The following is the fuel type break down for each of the 5 engines:

  • 1.4 TSI 150PS – Petrol
  • 2.0 TDI 115PS – Diesel
  • 2.0 TDI 150PS – Diesel
  • 2.0 TDI 184PS – Diesel
  • 2.0 TSI 200 PS – Petrol

Final Thoughts

Volkswagen is a very reputable company with over 70 years of experience in the auto industry and the biggest automaker in Europe.

Last we checked there were almost 300 Used Sharans for sale on AutoTrader, which is a great place to get started without having to leave your living room.
